Who is Steve Straus?

I am a Texas native who pursued an early career in computer technology before realizing that my true passion lies in the coaching and holistic development of others. Starting in 1987 I slowly learned through experience and studying resources about the human condition. In 1993 I connected with Thomas J Leonard, whom many consider to be the father of modern Coaching, and asked him to teach me everything he knew about becoming a Coach. The rest is history.

In an industry/profession where the average relationship between client and Coach is less than 12 months my average is 5+ years. I have coached over 600 private clients – highly successful people – who’ve found there always seems to be something else they would like to have a different perspective on.

I spent many years collecting certifications and accolades to add to my list of credentials until I realized (with the help of my Coaches) I no longer needed these to look good in others eyes.

My ah-ha moment was this:

No one ever hired me because of my credentials.
They hired me because of me.

Coaching Philosophy

I believe everyone can have a full, rich, and satisfying life. That belief shapes my coaching.

My job is to help you see what’s important to you, then help you have it.
Since each client wants different outcomes, I’m a different Coach for each client; this requires me to be flexible and always on my toes, a major part of what I love about being a coach.

You coach with me only as long as you want. You’re in control of the relationship.

You do the work, I do the Coaching.
And we have a very good time together.

It’s almost impossible to describe coaching, so call me and let’s talk about where you are, what you want and how I might be able to help. No charge, of course. I always enjoy talking with someone new! Let’s see what having an additional perspective can do for you. And should we determine that I’m not the right Coach for you, I’ll gladly help you find another coach, your perfect coach.

The key to a successful relationship with a coach is rapport. Time up front, around topics meaningful to you, can let that rapport blossom.
